Prayer Requests

• Jenny, a young woman from Korea, prayed to receive Christ and is being baptized this weekend. She shared last night at our Experiencing God group about her baptism at the Korean church and how she came to Christ through Global Life Church. Join us in praising God and praying for Jenny to grow as Christ's disciple.
• August 11 through September 9 is the Muslim month of fasting during daylight hours called Ramadan. We have a 30 Day Guide to Prayer that we'll send to anyone who requests one at JohnCraigColbert@aol.com  On August 11 from 7 -8:30 pm  we are sponsoring a special time of prayer focused on Muslim peoples and sharing about our new Oasis Team. If you're local join us for this time.
• This coming Saturday is a special day. A young woman from China T. will be married to an American man. A Christian family will begin. Two years ago T was without hope in the world, but due to your prayers and gifts she found Christ and has grown in her faith. Whenever we see a Christian family formed we are especially pleased because we know Christ will be ptoclaimed for generations through this family. Praise God He found T., loved her, saved her, has helped her grow and has given a Christian man as a life partner!
• Pray for our finances this month. We need to see an above average amount come in to stay on budget. Thanks for your prayers. Pray for us to find new monthly donors. Update: So far (as of 7/26/10) we've seen $7,820. come in this month and we need to see $10,000. come in to stay on budget. Thanks for your prayers and gifts!
• Shirley helped coordinate a 5-Day Club for international kids for a group of teens from Grace Bible Church. Three international girls prayed to receive Christ and Shirley assisted with the counseling. All three were given Bibles the next day and they were eager to find every verse mentioned in their new Bibles.  These three bring our numbers to 10 who have prayed to receive Christ this academic year.
• We had about 85 attend our July 3rd Picnic and Fireworks. Thanks so much to our hosts, Greg & Kathy Harvey. We had a number of new folks attend. Pray that some who came will come to Bible discussion this coming Friday.
• We had every seat filled last night at the Friday Seekers Fellowship and had at least 10 new people. Many opportunities!
• HELP! For the second month in a row our paycheck has been about $600. We need a MIRACLE. I hate to humble myself like this but I need your prayers for God to provide $10,000. in the next 30 days to set us on a good course. We have given everything we've had to this ministry and we need God's people to join us in sacrificing for the continued outreach to thousands of international student, scholars and their families. We've been playing catch up for years, we need to get ahead. Join me in praying for God's provision!
• A recent International Friends alum has procured a teaching position at the University of Vermont. She is a Christian and we through our ACMI contacts have put her in touch with campus Christians and Christian professors there. Pray for contacts and for her to get involved in the Christian community on campus and use her position to be a witness for Christ.
• Thank God for the people who pray for the ministry of International Friends. We are so grateful for them. We will have no idea how much their prayers have changed things until we get to heaven. Thanks for praying!
• We had 50 attend our second summer session Friday Night Seeker's Fellowship including about 7 new folks. Pray that people will discover Jesus through our Bible discussions this summer.
• Pray for two couples getting married this summer - One is a Christian couple and the other has one spouse who is a Christian and the other is very close. Pray that God will give both a heart for committed love in the context of marriage
• We are approaching our typical Summer Slump. During the busy months of June, July and August when many of our donors are relaxing and taking vacations there is a tendency for our summer giving to go down significantly. What happens is many people just seem to forget sending in their donations during the summer months. Would you join us in praying that the the Holy Spirit will bring us and the ministry of International Friends to their minds this summer?  Our expenses remain the same during summer as they do during the academic year and often a summer downturn flows into the fall and this is what creates our rather significant deficits ($10,000.+) by December. Pray for good giving during the summer months.  Thanks!
• We started our Experiencing God group last night and had a total of 9 attend. Pray for God to reveal himself in new ways as they prepare for next week.
• In August we will be starting an Oasis Team, a team of local people committed to befriending Muslim students. Pray that this effort will provide a place for training interested people and result in multiplying the number of people befriending Muslims in our community. • Thank God! A young woman from China prayed to receive Christ last week after seeing the film "Magdalena: Through Her Eyes" about the life of Jesus from a woman's point of view. She has been coming to Bible studies on Friday and said she needed God in her life. Pray for this young graduate student to grow in Christ and realize what God has done in her life by her trusting in Jesus.
• I just discovered that it is possible for us to raise money through InterFACE Ministries for a new vehicle. Our current one was donated years ago and is approaching 148,000. miles. Pray that people will show interest in helping us purchase a new used minivan through the Colbert car fund. Thanks. UPDATE: So far $1,250. has been donated to the Colbert Card Fund. Thank You!
• Pray for Global Life Church to attract more families with kids. We have a great team of children's workers that are being under utilized
• Continue to join us in praying for 25 new Christians to come out of our minisrty this year.
